Ways on How to Stop Panic Attacks
As we all know, anxiety is a common emotion that everyone feels at some point in his life. Usually, this is felt when you encounter situations that triggers a fear within you. For instance, if you fear public speaking, you would feel all sorts of heightened sensations whenever you go in front of an audience to deliver a speech. Your throat gets dry. Your chest tightens. You feel nauseous. Your whole body shakes. And your anxiety over public speaking may even cause you to stutter and forget your speech totally as your mind goes completely blank. This is completely normal for a lot of people but if you suffer from an anxiety disorder and you fear public speaking, it’s highly likely that you have a deep fear that you may lose out of control whenever you are in front of an audience. And so, you may have tried to find a solid solution that would help you stop panic attacks.
You may have tried quick anti-anxiety relief programs that guarantee to help you live normally while you cope with anxiety disorder. You may have tried deep breathing exercises to help you calm down. You may have tried to distract yourself with other things so, that you may not have to think about your anxieties and fears. You may have tried to follow a specific type of diet where you consume foods that are rich in nutrients that may help you deal with anxiety. But the truth is, these may work for you for a short period of time like a couple of months. Eventually, if you lose your commitment and you lose your willpower and determination to follow these programs, it’s highly likely that you would be fed up so much so that you would give up and revert back to the way you were before you started the programs. In addition, these programs do not provide a cure. They just give you a way to ignore the root cause of your anxieties and fears.
On the other hand, you may have opted to employ hypnotherapy to help you deal with anxiety disorder. Hypnotherapy is a treatment that makes use of hypnosis where you reach a state of mind wherein you lose conscious control of your mind. Thus, in this state, you are susceptible to suggestions that the hypnotherapist may give you. Though hypnotherapy may sound impressive, the truth is there’s no scientific proof that this type of treatment really works. And it only targets to remove the manifestation of the symptoms and it doesn’t handle the specific cause of your anxieties and fears. At the same time, there are not a lot of licensed hypnotherapists worldwide and it’s a big risk to undergo hypnosis if the hypnotherapist isn’t unable to cure anxiety disorders or any psychological illnesses for that matter without the use of hypnosis.
The only effective way of truly eliminating your anxieties and fears is to directly attack their root cause: your distorted self-image. The way you see and feel about yourself affects how you do in life and how you interact with other people. This is directly affected by how you reacted to your past experiences and the beliefs that other people inculcated in you. For example, if your parents constantly told you that you are a failure and that you wouldn’t amount to anything, it’s highly likely that you would prove to the world that you are indeed a failure and a worthless person.
In order to change your self-image, you must be able to let go of the past. Forgive others who have offended you with no strings attached. If you made a mistake, step back, assess the mistake, learn from it and try again until you succeed. Always remember that no one can make you feel bad without your consent. No one has the power to change you but yourself.
If you are able to create an adequate, realistic self-image, you would be able to live a normal, healthy life as you are able to overcome successfully whatever challenges that life throws at you.
