Usually, travel is one of the activities that is enjoyable to a lot of people regardless if it’s for business or vacation purposes. But there are some people who feel anxious, worried and panicky even before they travel. Hence, travel anxiety can interfere with pleasure during personal and business trips. A normal, enjoyable trip can adversely be affected when you constantly feel anxious, jittery and restless.
For example, my aunt who is also my godmother has never been in an airplane. The reason behind this is that when you ask her if she wants to fly by plane, she would immediately say that she would never consider that because she is afraid that the plane might fall from the sky. If it falls on water, she could not swim. If it falls on a jungle, she does not know how to navigate through it and get off it safely.

Relaxation techniques like deep breathing can help to avoid anxiety with check in and boarding. Electronic devices like iPod and Blackberry can provide relaxation over distracting thoughts. An interesting book can be a great companion for long hours of journey. Recurrent travel anxiety can impair the ability for regular travel.
Positive reaffirmation can help deal with travel anxiety. Shifting focus to enjoyable aspects of trip can control negative deranging thoughts. Attention to detail like place of stay and natural sights can promote relaxation. Travel anxiety with packing can be avoided by reassurance that essentials can always be bought at will.
